Firstly is the media markets analysis. According to the media in Poland, The Polish media industry has been relatively resilient in the last five years, recording moderate to strong growth from
2010-2012, before falling into decline in 2013, resulting in moderate overall revenue growth during the 2009-2013 period.
Forecasts suggest revenue growth will remain largely the same during 2013-2018.
I want to search more explanations of the smilier growth during 2013-2018. Will it have some disruptive innovations or products in media industry that could stimulate the growth? On the other hand, the broadcasting & cable TV segment occupy the largest market share. Then comes to newspapers. However, in many countries market shares of broadcasting, cable TV, or newspapers are shrinking. The OTT(over the top) business model hits cable TV. In United States fewer people use cable TV. Moreover, broadcasting doesn't seem to be popular too. Sports live and some shows remain popular. But some journalistic programs now struggle in existence, not to mention newspapers. We can see that Poland is somewhat different from U.S or other countries. Reasons might include policy, economic, culture, and ideology. I think knowing more reasons behind difference among countries will be very interesting.
Secondly, Poland was a communistic country. But now it is a democracy country. This change strikes media system in Poland. According to media system transition in Poland, Russia, and China, Media in Poland has a high level of political parallelism. Meanwhile, media has a limited autonomy. During the class, professor further explained it with changes in 1980s. Based on this materials, I hope to collect more information about journalist autonomy. Moreover, wether new media or new media technology be widely spread in this country under this ecosystem is worthwhile to explore.
Bonus: Recently I am watching full-length documentary of Soviet Union's war with Germany. Visiting Auschwitz-Birkenau Concentration Camp is a bonus for me to know more about the history.
